I really could use seven perfect things crawling over me like in this story。
Jeanee,
Never disappointed with this author! Such a sweet tender story written through the lens of three different individuals all challenged with varying life situations。 As with any other books by Catherine Ryan Hyde oh, I could not put it down until it was finished。
Sandie,
I have read several of Catherine Ryan Hyde’s books and have always enjoyed them, hence my decision to read SEVEN PERFECT THINGS。 First of all, the cover。 I am a sucker for puppies and the ones pictured really drew me in。。。。。。BUT…………while this book did have its moments I found the plot to be a little too formulaic。 The story, in general, had a “soap opera” redolence, the dramatic sequences were predictable and you just knew we were all heading down this particular road to the “happily ever after” I have read several of Catherine Ryan Hyde’s books and have always enjoyed them, hence my decision to read SEVEN PERFECT THINGS。 First of all, the cover。 I am a sucker for puppies and the ones pictured really drew me in。。。。。。BUT…………while this book did have its moments I found the plot to be a little too formulaic。 The story, in general, had a “soap opera” redolence, the dramatic sequences were predictable and you just knew we were all heading down this particular road to the “happily ever after” climax。 If perfect solutions and feel good endings are what you enjoy in your reading material, then look no further。。。。。。this is the book for you。 。。。more

Miriam,
Of course I loved this book!!! I have loved every single book that Catherine has written。 This one was probably the most suspenseful one and it kept me up late, wondering what was going to happen next。 And of course with a story that includes dogs, how could I not love it!
Nicki,
Adorable puppies story。 Puppies do bring happiness to a girl much in need of happy feelings。 The puppy story is intertwined with the story of her dysfunctional family。 Elliot is portrayed as the savior, as a way to escape。 While it makes for a nice story it isn't realistic。 I liked the story, just didn't find it more than a pipe dream for those readers stuck in abusive relationships。 Adorable puppies story。 Puppies do bring happiness to a girl much in need of happy feelings。 The puppy story is intertwined with the story of her dysfunctional family。 Elliot is portrayed as the savior, as a way to escape。 While it makes for a nice story it isn't realistic。 I liked the story, just didn't find it more than a pipe dream for those readers stuck in abusive relationships。 。。。more

Sweet storySuch a nice story and one that despite the bad ends nice。 I really do recommend this story and other books by this author。
Cindy,
Warms you heartI choose this book due to the topic of dogs。 The book was heartwarming and had a happy ending but was a bit predictable。 I generally read mysteries and like to be kept guessing and surprised。 I do recommend the book as Abby's spirit was endearing。 Warms you heartI choose this book due to the topic of dogs。 The book was heartwarming and had a happy ending but was a bit predictable。 I generally read mysteries and like to be kept guessing and surprised。 I do recommend the book as Abby's spirit was endearing。 。。。more

Jolene,
This was a heartwarming and relatable story about a mother and daughter learning to stand up for themselves。 A great example for teens and adults to read。
Linda Smith,
Hmmm。 The other CRH books I’ve read have been some of my favorite books。 So I was excited about this one。 NO。 What a simpering bag of unbelievable Hallmark pablum。 Even the narrators were simps。 There was not a single original thought。 I did want to find out what happened so I kept reading so 3 stars for that。 But oh my I need something with more heft!
Lynn,
Catherine is one of my favorite authors she can tell a story that only encompasses a month or so and is so full of depth and wonder。
Debra,
This is written so simplistically-no character development, and relies on stereotypical plots。 A complete waste of my precious reading time。
Eileen Goudge,
Heartfelt StoryI am a fan of Catherine Ryan Hyde, and this latest book of hers is true to form。 Sweet and touching, with three-dimensional characters。 A story of three people, seven puppies, and how they find each other。 Highly recommend it。
Jane,
Always a heartfelt read! She always writes up such wonderfully stirring emotional novels that make you laugh, make you cry, but always they end happily 。 She is so good at describing intense emotions and the plot development is always quite complex too but packs a simple gut punch。 I never pass up her new releases!!
Michele Grace,
3。5。 At times frustrating and at times lovely。

one of my favorite authors
Peggy M Klein,
Great bookThis book was so easy to read and easy to feel connected to the main characters in the book。 I fully understand the feeling of loss and the struggle to acceptance。
Susan,
Young adult book perhaps。 Sweet story。
Cathy Geha,
Seven Perfect Things by Catherine Ryan HydeSweet almost fairytale style story perfect for a youth or young adult reader。 It was a quick read for me but would be long for many readers that age。 What I liked: * Abby: thirteen, on eggshells around her father, realizes her mother is not happy, saves puppies, finds happiness and a sense of responsibility/family with the puppies。 * Elliott: recently widowed, professional, grieving, meets the puppies and Abby at his cabin, loving, kind, generous, a goo Seven Perfect Things by Catherine Ryan HydeSweet almost fairytale style story perfect for a youth or young adult reader。 It was a quick read for me but would be long for many readers that age。 What I liked: * Abby: thirteen, on eggshells around her father, realizes her mother is not happy, saves puppies, finds happiness and a sense of responsibility/family with the puppies。 * Elliott: recently widowed, professional, grieving, meets the puppies and Abby at his cabin, loving, kind, generous, a good man。* Mary: Abby’s mother, in an unhappy marriage, dreams of leaving, not physically but emotionally abused, loves Abby, ultimately puts her daughter first。 * The puppies: bring joy into more than one life* That there is a resolution that is happy for now and could be ultimately a happy for the three main characters and the dogs。 * It was a feel-good story with good winning out* There was no violence or abuse except the negativity and underlying tension in Abby’s house* That I could see a younger reader enjoying the book。 What I didn’t like: * Abby’s father and the tension he created* That I ended up skimming the book because it really was not a story for me…。might be for my granddaughter in a few years。 Did I enjoy this book? Mary Kuretza,
Lovely storyAs a counselor, I have already recommended this book to be used in HS Eng classes。 Well written and provides great topics for kids to address
Sarah,
Almost a 4
D。 Colwell,
DisappointingThe final third of this book was wonderful just as all of Ms。 Hyde’s books。 However the first two-thirds were dull and a little ridiculous。 A nosy neighbor sticking his nose into someone else’s business。
Lisa N,
This author’s books keep popping up on my “new books by authors you’ve read” list。 The premise always sounds good, and who can resist a cover with puppies? But I always end up disappointed in how simplistic and predictable they are with cliche characters and juvenile dialogue。 Her books really seem more suited to the children’s section in my opinion。
Sinda Conrad,

Leslie,
This is my favorite read so far this year。 Some of the subject matter isn’t easy, but is honest and handled beautifully。 And there are puppies。 Lots of puppies。 Abusive relationships (emotional and physical), terminal illness, death, depression and much more。 Tough, but honest and real。 It is in no way gratuitous, but is there to explain why the main characters are who they are。 Thirteen year old Abby is an amazing young lady。 She is living a difficult life with an abusive father, a mother (Mary This is my favorite read so far this year。 Some of the subject matter isn’t easy, but is honest and handled beautifully。 And there are puppies。 Lots of puppies。 Abusive relationships (emotional and physical), terminal illness, death, depression and much more。 Tough, but honest and real。 It is in no way gratuitous, but is there to explain why the main characters are who they are。 Thirteen year old Abby is an amazing young lady。 She is living a difficult life with an abusive father, a mother (Mary) rightfully terrified of him trying to figure out how to get out, but afraid and feeling stuck。 She sees a man throw something into the river and has a funny feeling so she jumps in and rescues a bag full of beautiful little puppies。 In her efforts to save them she meets a wonderful kind man named Elliot who is dealing with the loss of his beloved wife。 The development of their relationships and new paths they ultimately find themselves on is beautiful, redemptive and though at times scary, it is hopeful。 Love, kindness, people helping each other move forward to better things than any of them ever dreamed all wrapped up in beautiful writing is a delightful read。I received a copy of this book from Netgalley。com in exchange for a fair and honest review。 It did not influence my review。 It is a wonderful read。 。。。more
